I have sold silver coins successfully on Ebay.
Check Ebay to see how much that coin is going for, and the condition etc......
You WILL find the value there.

Their is usually a coin retail trader buyer of old coins in the phone book for your city. . You would have to know more--mint marks---quality---usually the library has those books. If he took it to a coin shop he got $5-10 reguardless of the worth as a collectable. You need to know what kind of coin--silver dollar--gold coin---dime--what was it??? No rush on the answer as the coin is gone forever.
