I currently have Verizon Wireless too. Your $5 text messaging plan only covers 250 text messages sent and or receive.

If you want unlimited text messaging to Verizon customers, you would have to pay $10.00 monthly access and you will get 500 additional messages to any other phone carriers. You would have to call verizon customer care to change your text messaging plan.

Yeah, its not free to text to others with the same carrier.
Every text message (andpicture messages) you send is subtracted from your 250 then you start getting charged 15c per extra and 25c per pix.

So no its not free and if you need more messages available then you can do a 500 for 10 bucks i think.
