Most have heard of the Mayan calender end date 12/21/2012. Most do not believe this is the END of time, but rather a time of ascension or peeking of knowledge (consciousness). The time of ascending could begin +/- 30yrs of the planetary alignment.

The internet is the final home of knowledge. This means it is the portal through which we have unlimited access to endless knowledge. The internet has everything everybody in the world knows in it. You look up anything you know and someone already knew it.

Could it be that the internet is the platform for our ascension. 12/21/2012 or around could be the high or peek in abundant knowledge. Thus leading into a NEW era in human consciousness.

Throughout time men have made it their quest to further their knowledge of being. Could it be that the information highway and planetary alignment have something in common.

Gene: Libraries were abundant but not all libraries were accessible by just one person. The internet contains information that would amount to one person being able to visit all libraries in the world at once. Thus giving unlimited access to all known and documented knowledge..

Quite mystical for a "science" question... But thought provoking indeed.
We could also see it as a the apex of our civilzation's power, like it can only fall after that, because of all the energetic / ecological troubles we're in...
But the internet is definitely one of the greatest products of mankind. Everything anybody in the world knows...

The internet may record the information of humanity, but I believe its the human MIND that is the platform for ascension and the ultimate home of knowledge.
Before the internet (which has really only been around for maybe 2 decades at most), before readily-accessible books (which has only been the last 3 or 4 centuries), before individually-produced books for the privileged few - before all that was the exchange of information from one mind to another. Around campfires, in the home, parents educating their children and mentors teaching their apprentices.

But the challenge right now is that with the instant availability of information online, too many young people just don't know how to learn and retain information. Why bother, they can just look it up again if they need it.
And if (or when) the internet fails due to some technological "disease" or other calamity, those same people will have to start all over again.
So the internet may actually slow down the ascension of the race as a whole. But those who don't rely on it exclusively will continue to grow, and this could end up splitting the race into the "haves" and the "have-nots".

Probably not. Libraries were the pinnacle of knowledge for a long time and they still are. I trust the information there much more than the internet. In a few decades, the grand and glorious internet will be loaded with cobwebs and replaced by something better.

Most rational people tend to regard this "planetary alignment" and "Mayan calendar" business as a load of dingo kidneys. When 12-21-2012 comes around, I think their opinions in this matter will be validated.

As regards planetary alignment, the fact that astrologers can't even agree among themselves what various heavenly portents portend, nor have they been able to derive a common theory of astrology (which would undoubtably be proven wrong by science), not to mention the fact that astrologers have been proven wrong countless times in the past . . . well, the bottom line is that we need not even dignify this quackery by allowing our thoughts to dwell thereupon.
