I work retail and I can say that Wiis or any other game systems are stocked when they are supplied by the distribution center.
Everything is done by computer and when one leaves the shelf, it should input into the system for them to send another one to that store.
This doesn't always happen of course because sometimes demand is more than the supply.

It depends on what stores. Nintendo ships them more frequently to Best Buy, Circuit City, and those big franchises. Smaller franchises such as Gamestop or EB Games do have them, but not as much as those bigger stores. The big stores, as I've noticed, get them every, or every other Sunday. Gamestop gets that at random times of the week and they only get like 5 Wiis. So you should try checking Best Buys or Circuit Citys in your area. If you do happen to get a Wii, be sure to pick up Zelda, WarioWare Smooth Moves, and a classic controller, (if you're planning on getting Virtual Console games.) Hope this helped and I hope you become a fellow Wii owner my friend, good luck!

they arrive on Friday nights or maybe Thursday nights in the event that they're early. same with Toys R Us. Make a pal a best purchase and notice in the event that they are going to hold one for you. They sell out interior of two-3 hours. Get there until now it opens and get in line, yeah there's a line on Friday and Saturday mornings. you will get one in case you do.
