"cc" in the term 50cc , 100cc & 150cc stands for "Cubic Centimeters", which describes the size of the engine.
In the Mario Kart series, in general, it's also used to describe the computer difficulty. The higher the cc's, the faster the carts are & the hard the computer opponents as well.

50cc 100cc and 150cc are the difficulty of races you are able to play. 50cc is the least complicated and 150cc is the toughest. once you get 1st 2nd or third on a cup you will get a score, a b c d, etc. After A comes a million megastar then 2 megastar and finally 3 megastar. The CC designates the motor size (which the programmers use to increase the difficulty, also)
CC means Cubic Centimeters.
