The guy is an overzealous idiot. He couldn't help himself ~
Unfortunately he is not alone in our 'justice' system'. They are legions.

He was up for election. He chose the course that would win him the most votes. He probably would have lost if he let the case drop in the face of all the national and world wide attention.

It was big news. He liked the spotlight and the power that came with it. Ultimately he didn't really care whether or not they actually did it. Nancy Grace and the rest of the media had already convicted them. Going against that would make him look bad.

I don't think Nifong believed the national media would pay any attention to this case. He knew that the Black activists would support him in the local area so he saw it as a win-win situation.

He was up for election when the charges were made. It seems he was more interested in making a name for himself. He let the liberal media and politics cloud his judgment. He deserves to be disbarred.

He had a upcoming Mayoral Race that he did run and win in. And, he did appeal to local leaders and people whom were interested in that girls rights and allegations. I guess he thought he would not get caught.

because he was looking for a big conviction for re-election and he felt that the truth (in his eyes) would come out later
