Preschoolers don't have very good motor skills, so keep it simple and big. Just do coloring, finger paints, play-doh or make up some cookie dough and teach the little one how to roll it out and use a cookie cutter.

"paint" the outside of the house or fence with a real paint brush and bucket of water
draw on the sidewalk with chalk
make a train out of boxes
go outside and draw around your shadows
use a can of biscuits, cut each biscuit into four pieces, roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon, cook, EAT
use a video camera to make a movie for Daddy or grandparents
use a cookie sheet to stick magnets on, spell words, make pictures
use shaving cream and finger paint a picture on the inside of the bathtub
get your feet wet and make footprints/hands, handprints
make a cake and let the kids decorate it---cut it into pieces and let each one decorate his own section

you could try to tie-dye white t-shirts with coolade- messy but fun
look at this site for ideas how to
http://www.monkeyknits.com/monkeyknits/2005/05/koolaid_dyeing.html
another hobby might be gardening
what kind of crafts do you do?? just scale them down for the little one.
3 yr olds have a short attention span so plan for that !!

you could teach them how to trace their hands and feet, make a plaster mold of their hands, find a non toxic play dough recipe and use koolaid to scent and color it.
