Do you think that welfare is too easy to get for those who really don't need it and use it to live off of and for us who work full time to make a living and still need a little extra help as far as food, should be able to get a little help.

I work full time, pay daycare, pay a morgtage and just the basics and I run so short on money for groceries, however I am way over the income limit for assistance,.. it seems that you have yo QUIT a job in order to qualify.

Absolutely! I am in the same situation. There are some who really need it and cannot get it b/c of that. When I worked in a grocery store it was crazy watching these people and their whole fam would have these food stamp cards and you wonder how they have no shame. I bet it's hard though to rule out which don't or however that goes and it sucks, but at least you have that sense in knowing how hard to work to maintain your family life and well-being. Keep your head up and maintain your hardwork! It'll pay off in the end and hopefully you'll someday be blessed with what you deserve. Good things happen to good people!! ;)

So many of us are in the same boat Sherry. I have a sister in law who was a full time welfare recipient for years but because of welfare reform was made to get a job and I think it's harder now then it used to be to get on welfare (well unless you are an illegal alien) but still not fair. I am one of those hard core conservatives who think that government shouldn't be involved in welfare in the first place, or anything that wasn't written in the constitution to be governments job. I can't think of one government program that hasn't turned into an over bloated under achieving bureaucracy that wastes more of our tax money money then helps. Botom line for me is we are way over taxed even with Bush's tax cuts if we had even more of our hard earned money to spend and not have to give it to government to waste we would be so much better off. How do we do that? I wish I knew or could wave a magic wand and be able to put common sense back into the heads of politicians. lol hang in there do the best you can do and if you don't want even more of your money taken in taxes don't vote for a Democrat!!! Because all of them who are running for president are promising to raise taxes!

I think people who don't really need it are wasting their time. It's very difficult to keep getting welfare if you don't really need it. First you have to prove that you are disabled in some way, and then you have to really ration what you spend because welfare only provides the absolute basics. Don't think people who are trying to cheat off welfare are having a good time.

I agree in a sence. But those who take advantage of it are getting caught more and more nowadays. I work as a secretary for a medicaid office 2 days a week and we have caught so many violators its crazy

It's unfair in many ways. They need to change some laws on it desperately. You didn't mention the fact of health insurance and your lack of it as opposed to medicaid having it. It's a mess for sure.
