Depending on what meds I took the night before, and how many, sometimes I don't get up.

The sun, birds, and internal clock.
Since I don't have "Commitments" ... well I find that I naturally get up around 7:00-8:00 AM (depending on the Sun's season) ... and fall asleep around 11:00-12:00 PM. It's all natural ... easy ... Oh, and I sing to myself in the morning too before I move out of bed which makes me happy.

I have an alarm clock that plays an annoying and loud buzzing noise that I put on the other side of my room. That way, I HAVE to get out of bed to turn it off. If I decide to get back in bed afterwards, the sound of the alarm clock usually wakes up my parrot. She doesn't like being woken up, so... she will usually throw a fit about it. She'll scream and yell "Time to get up Molly Bird" (thats what I say to her when I uncover her cage in the morning). So... she keeps me up too.

So, if you are having trouble with getting up and staying up... buy an annoying alarm clock for the other side of the room and then get a persistant parrot. That should work.

A very large window is right behind my bed. I have sheer drapes that allow the sun to shine in. I did that on purpose. Leave me in a dark room and I'll sleep forever. If I still have trouble actually getting out of bed, I start to exercie or turn on the headphones and listen to the news. Something usually upsets me and I get up-not always in the best of moods, but I'm up.

I just get up long enough to get my daughter out to school and than I go to bed as I work at night unless I have a meeting with someones parent. I try to plan those as late in the afternoon as possible. I'm a person who functions much better at night when it's quiet and still, I find it hard to concentrate when there is a lot going on around me.

I like to tell myself that if I dont get up, get my butt out of bed, and get to work, then I will be living on the streets or under a bridge or something in the near future. So far this approach has always worked.
