I have played Fantasy Football for 3 years now, and I am very competitive. I have participated in 4 leagues, and have done no worse than the championship game in any of those leagues. However, all of those leagues we have played using team defenses only. If I were to join a draft that has individual defensive players, what is the best strategy in drafting?

there are lots of good individual defensive players. let the other teams pick the big name guys early, there is not a ton of difference from the best to the 10th best (or 12, however many teams in your league). take the same approach as drafting kickers- stock up on RBs & WRs early, take em at the end. don't draft more than one, you can pick up a FA or play a matchup when your guy is on bye.

Nobody mentioned the back-breaker.

If your league awards a point for ten yards a return, you will be ABUSED unless you get after the defensive backs that return kicks. The most dominant fantasy player of the last 3 years hasn't been Peyton Manning, LT or even an offensive player! It's Buffalo's DB Terrence McGee, who plays full-speed defense and returns kickoffs. Anyone who had Devin Hester on defense in 2006 knows what I'm talking about also.

Here's how to test who's best: Go to "Players", select the "D" (any DB/DL) and go. Then, hit the "Fantasy Points" button on the far right, and you can compare ALL the defenders from the last season's numbers utilizing your league's currently programmed scoring system.

I'm not saying to use the same players from last year again (though linebacker DeMeco Ryans looks enticing at DL). But every year, some rookie or second-year return sleeper breaks loose. Find that player - do your homework. Hint: bad defenses return much kickoffs.

Draft guys that are relatively young and that make a ton of tackles. Sacks and interceptions have much more season-to-season variation, meaning that a guy with 12 sacks this year may only have 4 next year - the opposition double-teams him more often. As for INTs, if a guy leads the league in picks then teams will throw away from him next year.

i've got performed in a pair... they frequently do no longer initiate getting drafted until the very very previous due rounds... like the place you may frequently initiate finding for a backup kicker or protection. they're exceptionally interchangable from week to week additionally.

team defense only? pretty retarded considereing there are only about 4 good defenses that would be worth playing in the nfl.

and considereing you've been playing for 4 years in the championship game everytime, you don't know how to draft? do you not know who makes consistent tackles, interceptions, and sacks? if not, quit paying for advice son and learn your football!
