You've already done everything you need to do to start over.
Go to a college far, far away from everyone you know and where no one who knows you is going to school.
Make friends with nice people on your first day of orientation, don't go to any beer parties, and have a good time checking out the library, any museums, and volunteer opportunities.
You're lucky to have gotten your wild oats out of the way early, and you'll be able to shake your head as immature college students run around smoking, drinking and having sex when they could be studying, making friends and preparing for their careers.
Good luck!

Considering that you want to start afresh ( and I hope you seriously mean it this time) I guess you've already won half the battle by
a) identifying that there is a problem with your current life and
b) identifying what it is
Don't worry, YOU CAN ALWAYS START FRESH. Life is all about getting up when your chin is on the ground. Yeah, there may be times when you may feel a bit disheartened about your past, but take solace from the fact that you have at a relatively young age, matured and wisened up to your 'misdeeds' and are now actively thinking of putting all that away. As they say, you can'tchange the past, but you can spoil a perfectly good present by worrying about the future. My advice is...dont/ The past is gone. Erase the memories to make way for better ones, but keep the lessons so that you don't make the same mistakes. I feel you have boldly taken the first steps and won half the battle. The other half will require a whole load of patience and skill, but YOU CAN DO IT. As Bon Jovi sang sometime ago, " its hard to hang on when there's no one to lean to.....but you know you gotta keep the faith". If you are a church goer, in addition to the above you could also pray for forgiveness. It will make you feel better
Dont wallow in the past lady, the FUTURE IS HERE !
Cheers and Good Luck

Your name shouldn't have any permanent ruining unless you have a criminal record. Even that shouldn't stop you from going to college because criminals are getting college degrees while still locked up in prison (Some so they can be their own lawyer the next time they get arrested.). If it is all that bad, try alternative college courses found on-line or by correspondence. They cost about the same and you won't have to step on a campus, plus you can still get a job to pay for the tuition while earning the degree. Just be careful to attend an accredited one so your degree will be accepted when you apply for better jobs. There are many "degree mills" out there who will take your money and not give you anything more than a worthless piece of paper. Most major universities have websites you can check to see if they have courses on-line or by correspondence.

The way this reads is that no college will accept you because your name is gossiped about. Colleges have no clue what your reputation is, only what you send them to look at, and your transcript (which doesn't have gossip, just your grades and completed classes). So colleges not accepting you must be finding something else (maybe not enough extracurriculars etc.) wrong or lacking in your application. (I mean, colleges don't call up people and ask them how much you smoke, drink, and slept around)
As for starting over. Anyone can start over. You can never erase the past, and you can never make others forget, but you can (if you try hard enough) make them see past that to who you are trying to become. When people see that you are actively trying to better yourself, they will be more likely to dismiss what they may have heard about your "seedy" past.

I know where you are at. I had a similar reputation in school. The beautiful thing in life is that you can change. In some cases that means who you hang out with, and new place to live, but you can do it. It feels good to get out of all that filth. If you are trying to stay in the same place as you always have this could be hard. People don't give up their views easily. You may want to try some place out of state. Good for you on changing though. It is a great accomplishment to dig yourself out of that rut.

I turned my life around at 19. I changed my friends and my attitude towards life. It is never ever to late to change your life around. Just start doing things for yourself and soon everybody will recognize the person you have become. There will be road blocks and temptation but if you keep a strong will you you can turn your life around. You don't ever want to change your past because think of all the experience you have had and you are able to see what was right and wrong before it was to late. Your past is just your past, it can define your future if you let it. but stay strong and don't give in to your old self.

The fact you have been able to keep your grades up speaks volumes about the young woman you are. When you go to college, you will have a chance to reinvent yourself. Your promiscuity was likely connected to the fact that you were not feeling great about yourself. Choose a school in a new area and use college as a time to explore new interests and to build your self-esteem. I think you have wonderful times ahead of you. Best of luck.

I thought that colleges take you based on your academics, not your behavior. How would any university know your name and actions? Go ahead to school, move on with your life and don't worry about what you did as a teen. We all have regrets. We all live and learn. Good luck turning your life around.

If your going to college in a different city or state, nobody there will have to know about your past. Start a new life.
If worse goes to worst, legally change your name.
