People who have never been to England.... what do you think the place is like?

A lot of you are correct. It is expensive and rainy (It`s been raining everyday for a week now and it`s the middle of June). it is cold too. Should improve in July.
There isn`t many Stereotypical English left, like Hugh Grant etc.
It`s being saturated by scruffy useless foreign people looking for hand outs. The native English are being forced to change the way they live to keep them happy and not upset them.
Our health service is at bursting point.
It is heavily taxed and most of the towns and cities are pretty ugly. It does have lots of History and we are proud of our history, that`s why many of us are upset that our history is being wasted.
If the great men of world war 1 and 2 knew what it would be like now they would have surrendered to Hitler!
Positives - No dangerous insects or Animals. `Proper` english breakfasts and we got a great Army.

I never said the Natives aren`t scruffy and useless did I?

I think it's usually rainy but beautiful when it's not raining... having never been there, of course I don't know, but I've seen pictures of the countryside, and it looks beautiful .... also, I LOVE guys with British accents, and I'd imagine they have a lot of those there, ;O) and a BIG plus is that Orlando Bloom is from England .... stay put, Orli, I'll be there as soon as I can!!! ;O)
(sorry. that last bit of info may hav been more than you wanted.... lol)
I seriously would like to visit there some day though.

As an Irishman living in Scotland it means I've come from a country that hates the English to live in a country that absolutely abhors them and I usually keep my mouth shut on this subject I'm actually going to defend them. They have become such a disadvantaged people they are like Stranger's in a Strange Land full of foreigners with cultural habit's they just cannot understand. So leave them alone you sod. It only rains a lot if you compare it to another country, but which one?

As for the rain, it makes us the green and pleasant land we are.

I went to stay with my penpal in Miami who said that when she was over here, she couldn't get over how green the country is.

That comes with being a small island (full of indomitable natives ... they'll only push us so far and then find out that the fighting spirit has never died).

i do believe what you are saying, i am from the united states, we have some of the same problems. i would think england would be a very great place to visit for all of the history and just the difference in the culture.

I belive it looks pretty cool. Even though in a lot of movies it looks like a girl place it is really not. It has sports going on there and there are also many cool sights there. I think London looks like a cool place.

Awesome! my uncle lives there and it's rainy pretty expensive you know.Go to london for some of the big stuff.Try visiting the Tower Of London,It's museums! Good people!
