Gloomy Sunday

Sunday is gloomy
My hours are slumberless
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Little white flowers
Will never awaken you
Not where the black coach
Of sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thoughts
Of ever returning you
Would they be angry
If I thought of joining you?
Gloomy Sunday
Gloomy is Sunday
With the shadows I spend it all
My heart and I
Have decided to end it all
Soon there'll be candles
And prayers that are sad I know
But let them not weep
Let them know that I'm glad to go
Death is no dream
For in death I'm caressing you
With the last breath of my soul
I'll be blessing you
Gloomy Sunday

Saddest Song: Annie's Song, by John Denver.

When John Denver sang a love song, he sang it like he meant it. This song he described as the greatest unopened gift he ever gave. While away, he sent the song to his wife, with whom he was having marital problems. He hoped it would help mend their marriage. She didn't even listen to it.

Runner up for saddest song: "Superstar" by the Carpenters. No one could sing a love-gone-wrong song like Karen Carpenter.

Most gut wrenching song: "This House is Empty Now" by Elvis Costello from his amazing "Painted From Memory" CD.

Most inspiring, tear-inducing song: "Live Like Horses", duet sung by Elton John and Luciano Pavarotti

Message from Heaven, written after the tsunami when a girl never returned from her holiday. A few days later friends started receiving postcards that she posted before her death.
A song writer heard of the story and then wrote "Message from Heaven"

The saddest song I know right now, must be that new song by that Norwegian lass, which goes something like..."And whyyyyyyy-ay, can't you just hold me? And whhhyyyy-ay, is it so hard?"
Damned if I know the title or artist, but everytime I hear it, it make me feel really melancholic...

Candle in the wind by Elton John - I was outside Althrop House waiting for Diana to arrive and heard in on the radio. Think of that time whenever I hear it - so sad.

Dance with my Father by Luther Vandross...It is beautiful and very sad too..The first time I heard it, was on Fathers Day a couple of years ago and my Dad had passed away so it was a really tough day anyway. I cried and cried but now, that song makes me smile and think of my Dad.
