Hayao Miyazaki is pretty unique. There are other good anime movies, but measuring up to his work is a pretty tall order.
The only one that I can think of off the top of my head that is fairly heartwarming AND not by Studio Ghibli or Miyazaki would be: "Ah My Goddess: The Movie"
Some more obscure titles from Ghibli or Miyazaki that you might try if you haven't already:
The Cat Returns
Pom Poko
Whisper of the Heart

"Paprika" debuted into limited theatres a few weeks ago. There's a lot of good buzz about the movie itself. Also you 2:1 odds, there's going to be similar types of Anime movies shown at your local or nearby Anime convention. It's also a good place to meet other people like yourself that could help you with your search.

My favorite was Hunter X Hunter. The story is about a boy's journey to find his father and follow in his footsteps of becoming a "hunter". It's a really interesting anime about the power of friendship.

Well, I found one anime called "Bartender". It's adult type heart warming, touching, drama anime which is not suit for children since the theme of this anime is around alcohol consumption. But if you're a grown up person, want to watch it by yourself, and like feel good anime, I would highly recommended it.
The story is about a young talented bartender, nick name "God of Glasses", making cocktail drinks to his random customers, that show up in each episode, after talking to them and hearing their stories in order to help them slove their problems or discover oneself from the meaning of each cocktail that he made (I mean each cocktail and liquor has it's own story!!) It's really hard to explain, you have to watch it to understand what I mean.
You can download it from here. (it's legal since this anime has been shown on ***. TV and has not been licensed yet)
http://anime.fansub.tv/series.php/906/Bartender/
Sadly, they only made 11 episodes. They are all in Japanese language with English Sub.
My recommend episode is #2 (Menu of the heart), 3(Glass of regret), 4(Dreams of amber), 6(The story inside the glass), and 9(The bar's face)
I actually cried!! in Ep. 2 and 9
Enjoy!
P.S. I would highly recommend people who are in bartender profession to watch this series.
