Well... if you enjoy combichrist, you might enjoy some of these EBM/aggro-electro bands (which is one of my favourite genres):
-VNV Nation
-And One
-Apoptygma Berzerk
-Suicide Commando
-Wumpscut
-Assemblage 23
-Front Line Assembly
-Covenant
-KMFDM
-Grendel
-God Module
-Velvet Acid Christ
-Blutengel

If you enjoy Black Sabbath, you might want to check out all the other classic hard rock and metal bands like Dio, Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc...

Fans of the industrial and EBM subgenre usually have a liking for Goth Rock and Death Rock, which happens to be my favourite genre. If you feel like expanding into other grounds, you might want to check out these bands:
-Bauhaus
-Sisters Of Mercy
-Siouxsie & The Banshees
-Fields of The Nephilim
-The Mission UK
-Love & Rockets
-The Smiths
-Dead Can Dance
-Christian Death
-London After Midnight

And if you want something completely new, refreshing, and ground breaking, try Fall Out Boy (KIDDING!!) :).

Er, well, I'm not sure if you'd call me a veteran music lover, but I do love classic music, so maybe I am a veteran music lover. Don't worry, I hate Fall Out Boy and Hinder too (I also hate My Chemical Romance... but that's besides the point). Anyway, I think you might like some classic metal bands. Check out Scorpions, Deep Purple, Dio, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Thin Lizzy. As for some more modern bands, I would recommend Nine Inch Nails, Slayer, Megadeth, or something like that. That's just my opinion.

1) Are you interested in the background details / trivia of the music you listen to - things like who wrote the song, date of release, all the stuff in the booklet? - Mostly. Whenever I get an album I do always read the booklet, but prefer other information than biopics, like, something they've written themselves, for example, or where the songs originate from/mean especially. This is rare though. And more often than not, when I like a band enough, I read up on them. When I love them, I read more. 2) Do you ever get pedantic about 'the facts'? - Yeah, incorrect naming/spelling of songs, etc. 3) Do you get annoyed by other people's lack of care or obsessions over such things? - Absolutely not.

You might enjoy Opeth, Children of Bodom, Fall of the Leafe, Delerium (check out their Semantic Spaces and Karma albums), Garbage, Tori Amos, Rasputina, Lacuna Coil, The Oddz, Pink Martini, Jill Tracy, Dark Sanctuary, The Dresden Dolls, Nicki Jaine, Pelican, Voltaire, Audra, Fear Factory... I can't think of anymore off the top of my head, but I hope this helps! Enjoy!

Try Boston (original for a band that comes from boston).
Its really good I cant stop listening to Third Stage (third studio album). It is not a true metal group but it has astonishing guitar riffs.
