Hello:

I have a 1999 Mazda 626 LX 160Kmile, Automatic Transmission.
The engine started fine, heard one slight "click" sound when I shift from parking to driving, the car is not moving!!! I could switch into any gear easily (perhaps too easy as hand feels usually), but the car is not moving in any direction.

I check the tans fluid level it is fine, could it be shift linkage or transmission problem?

Thanks in advanced !

either the linkage is broken so you cant shift out of park even though you can move the shifter, or the pin that locks every thing up when you put it in park broke so it will not disengage.

The first mistake you made was buying from a family member or a friend. The noise when started is a loose belt ,have it replaced. as far as the jerking goes maybe your coil may be bad...try a used one from a junk yard and see if the problem still exists. You say the plugs have been changed take them out and check to see if there gaped properly. As far as your Cruise not working properly , its going to be expensive to fix ,when you can't do the work yourself. Maybe try not using it ( now that's a cheap fix ) for the cruise. And the person you bought the car from was probably aware of the problems.that's why he/she got rid of it.
