I have an HP which doesn't come with a set of recovery discs, I have to make my own. All HP's dont come with recovery discs they come with recovery drives for you to make your recovery discs. I need a good DVD brand thats durable and system recovery compatible. Thanks!!!

If you mean the type of disks that I used to back up my recovery partition, I use some very good CD-R's. You can also use DVD's.

I do not need to use a disc. My windows xp was already loaded on my machine, when I bought it. HP, and Compaq computers, come with the operating system loaded on them. You will not lose your operating system...Here is how I do a system recovery>>

Tap the F-10 key as your computer is booting up. This will take you to "system recovery". Just follow the prompts on your screen, you will lose everything on your system, so back up anything you want to save. When you are finished, your computer will look just like the day you bought it. When you are finished, go to control panel, and get the windows firewall, get your windows updates (express mode) put your security and anti-spyware programs back on your computer, (update) and servive pack 2..Good Luck

when the phrase recovery disk is used , most commonly it refers to a manufactures brand of computer, and the disks it was sold with (example is dell , hp , compaq) they all come with "rescue or recovery disk" so the best one to use is the one that came with the computer, if the computer wasnt built by one of these makers then you may have a hand built one with a full install of the operating system (example windows xp2nd edition fully updated) in this case the recovery disk is the install disk .. if you are goin to use either one of these options for recovering your system , back up , and burn onto cd-rom everything you wish to keep off the computer before you insert the recovery disk
