The emotional pain of a teenager who's told by a girl she won't go out with him Saturday night or the physical pain of kidney stones or heart attack or childbirth?

Definitely emotional - I've been in serious physical pain, most recent involving tearing ligamnets and cartilege in my knee and needing major reconstructive surgery and being barely able to walk for 4 months, and now over a year later my knee still hurts a lot of the time - but I've recently lost the 2 best friends I thought I would ever have . what makes it worse (in a way) is that they aren't dead or anything, I just came to find out that they weren't really my friends at all, so I still have to see them all the time and deal with it and pretend everything's all right - but it's not. it hurts. I would rather tear every ligament in my body and have surgery again than to go through this kind of heartache again.
so to answer your question - definitely emotional

Both are painful, but physical pain can be treated for the most part. Emotions take longer to heal.

Physical pain heals. Some people never get over the emotional kind.

i would have to say emotional pain even tho depending on what type of physical pain it is, emotional still sort of stays there for a while while physical pain can go away more easily, im not sure i make too much sense but i think its more emotional

To be honest I would have to say emotional pain. Physical pain usually goes away but if you get emotionally hurt enough, it can lead to death or serious injury...or in other words, suicide. Physical pain does hurt, but emotional pain is a hundred times worse.

Emotional pain...by far. You can be continually hurt by it. Most physical pain is temporary but emotional pain can last a lifetime.

Both can hurt a lot but sometimes emotional pain stays inside for longer and doesn't seem to have a cure - physical is more realistic (not that that makes it easier to deal with or anything, LOL).
