Some of my profoundly deaf friends say that they can hear when they dream, but some say that they don't. Some say that they dream in sign, some say that they don't. I can hear when I dream, but I was not born deaf (although I'm not deaf now). I also dream in sign sometimes too, but more often than not, I don't.

This is like asking if blind people dream. Blind people dream because mostly what's wrong with them is the material sending information to the brain, but not the part that processes vision. So with the same reasoning, I would think that deaf people can hear in their dreams, they just can't receive the hearing stimulus in real life.

Yes,if they sign.Often people who in life are non -signers will not sign in dreams. Some deaf lip read in dreams. I know hearing students of sign who often see people signing in dreams.

Well, I don't think so, but hay, learn some sign language and then ask a person who is deaf. That's kind of akin to does a blind person dream.? It's a good question. but you have to be tactful in how you ask.

I am deaf! I don't dream in sound. But I don't really sign either. Just images. Sometimes lips move.

I would think so.
Somebody is going to harass you for asking though, no doubt. Like it's a joke. That will be weak.
Another question would be, what are blind people's dreams like? The one's that are born blind. A strange concept indeed.

If they do then blind people ought to dream in braile. I`m getting images of David Blunkett fondling acne sufferers as he sleep walks.

I knew a deaf kid who blinded his sibling's in his sleep because of a nightmare he was having, apparently two finger thrust stands for "Help me!" in sign language...
