The adult brain works differently than the teen one.
Kids are ultra-super-extremely concerned about what other kids think of them.
As you grow up, you realize that other don't give a crap about you 99% of the time, so you can return the favor by not being worried about their opinion of you.
At that point, the endearing, funny aspects of that story outweigh the potential of the girl repeating it to your friends.
Incidentally, if you want to have the maximum fun for the rest of your teen years, consider not giving a sh!t about what others think of you and doing what you want and saying what you think. You may find that people like and respect you more than when you are grovelling to fit in. Even if they don't, you'll notice a kind of freedom that is pretty liberating.

they think its cute and funny and they don't remember how it made them feel when their parents did it to them, and they think it lets the kid know how much they love him or her. I know how stupid that sounds but I'm a parent and my kids would cry and get real mad if I did that so I learned to say that stuff behind their backs. It is actually really bad for kids to do that to them. say things to embarrass them I mean, I try my best to keep my mouth shut. but you guys are sooo darn cute!

They are not doing this to hurt you and they don't realize how much it bothers you unless you tell them. Parents think their children's little antics are sweet, interesting, humorous and precious. It gives them joy and it delights their friends whose laughter is never meant to insult you as an individual. Most of them probably had parents who did the same thing.

When a parent has a child their own life as they knew it ceases to exhist.... so they live their lives through their children... for lack of anything else to talk about, since their own life as they knew it has ceased to exhist, they bring up the things that made them smile, or even laugh.... thus... you have parenting conversation.

Parents don't mean to embarass their kids. They find these
stories endearing and they only tell them because they love you. I hate them, too, but that's life!!!

Well, my parent's do it out of love and I know that for sure. They don't do it to make me feel embarassed, but I guess that's not the case for you.

because we just love you so much and think you are so adorable and cute. Its our way of relating to you in an intimate way. We really should be more careful about embarassing you.

They're getting you back and it's a way of bonding with your boy/girl friend. They're parents did it to them as well.
