People talk about it all the time, but what can we DO?

Organizations like NORML tend to hide behind its medical uses, but why can't the nation's recreational pot smokers come out of the closet? A lot of people here on YA mention that pot is bad because it can "ruin your life" because you'll be in jail or you won't be able to get a job. If it were legalized that would not be a problem. It's not as bad for you as alcohol and given the nation's obesity problem you would think it's actually the better recreational choice. It does not lead to the use of other drugs for a person with self control. And, a great amount of money could be made in taxing it instead of giving that money to street thugs. I realize that the government has better things to do, but many people are being arrested unnecessarily because of their lack of action on this matter.

To Answer your actual question you would have to pass a FEDERAL BILL making it legal everywhere in the country (then states or localities could make it illegal, but you would need to start with it being legal nationwide).
Federal law trumps state law, which trumps local law etc... Lesser governments can make laws more stringent but not less, i.e federal minimum wage is 1 dollar lower than DC's minimum wage, everyone still has to follow federal standards at a minimum. Currently its a federal crime to possess/sell/grow.
You know there was a very famous case where CA said it was ok to grow it and sell it to pharmacies or doctors offices and a grower (perfectly legal by CA law) was arrested by the FBI and at his trial the jury was not allowed to be presented with any CA law that showed he was within his state law rights (the trail was not held in CA). So he went to jail for a long time even though he followed his state law to a T.
Moral of the story, it needs to be legal according to the Federal government before your state or locality could legalize it

I agree. It's no worse then alcohol. It's all propaganda. Marijuana was 1st. made illegal to have something over the immigrant farm workers in the 50's. Since then it has been nothing but untrue propaganda and a government unwilling to say they were ever wrong.
Cigarettes and alcohol are not physically addicting? Um, I pretty sure some one is wrong about that.

nicely finding on how they could "legalize" this. in the event that they only decriminalized it --- The DEA, drug police could be fired (rightly so ) So unemployment could bypass up. If the "legalized it" as a tax cow then the DEA could become Revenueers of the boot legging days and privateness and seek and Seizure could bypass out of life. Why could a "police" agent no longer locate marijunan that replaced into untaxed whilst they could be getting factor for taxes recovered? As people who're already transforming into conscious of no longer working and being help via government be allowed to puff away devoid of the distant hazard of loosing thier dole --- extra will flock to the dole. So society could could be sparkling --- smoke pot yet do no longer anticipate any counsel for doing so?

Why would we do that?
That would be like giving our nation atomic weapon's and saying "OK. Now go have fun and try not to blow up your neighboring country's."
Now that sounds smart ... doesn't it?
OK.... now seriously ... if I really meant that I think everyone would hope I was high.
Think this over when you're NOT high... that's my suggestion.

Balls W-
What are you talking about... is it better to kill all of man kind at once or slowly rot our brains out? I would rather go quickly.
How would it help anyone to make it legal for people to get marijuana?
Yeah it might help some sick people... but they get to use it if they are proscribed it by the Dr.
Why do other people need it? Whats the point... you can have a good time with out getting high!
Try doing something else with your life!

First compare the effects of marijuana and alcohol, then point out that unlike alcohol and nicotine, it is not physically addictive, then put forward whatever other reasonable arguments you have, and when that doesn't work, move to Amsterdam.
