My boyfriend and I have been talking about getting married for a while now and he said that his dad told him, If he was to get married he better have Prenup done. The thing is, this is the only way he will get married. But he's not sure on how to get one drawn up. His brother recently got married and got one from online. Is that "official" or okay to do??? Or do we really Have to get a lawyer?

By the way, We don't want anyone to know were getting married, because our families are gonna want a huge wedding and we just want to go to the courthouse and get married through the JOP.

You should probably consult an attorney. The ones from online are fine to a degree but if you are wiling to sign one then you might as well get one that has a chance of standing up if its enforced. And I know that you feel the JOP will stop the big wedding but if your families are that insistent then you would just probably be delaying it.

I have always been told you have to go to a lawyer and they write up your Prenuptial Agreement. You or the party that has it drawn up , you sign it if you agree to the terms. If your getting one you better read it careful because those lawyer can word it where you can't understand what your giving or getting in case of a divorce.

Waste of time as most courts dont acknowledge them anyway so save your money. Why does one want one anyway if marriage is supposed to be a lifelong committment and if one is planning a possible divorce while planning a wedding, isnt that kinda putting the cart before the horse? By doing so it may be putting a jinx on the marriag before it even gets started
