You are legally separated, and depending on the state or country the time frame will vary slightly. Can be up to 6 months..

90 Day rule? Or Legal Separation. You can't get a divorce immediately after filing for a divorce for 90 days unless you file a motion to waive the 90 days and both parties agree or there is an emergency circumstance. Legal Separation is totally different altogether though. And since when did the boyscouts give away a badge for domestic law?

When you file for divorce, you get an interlocutory decree of divorce. After the mandatory waiting period for that state, you get the final decree.
