There is no one muscle that is more important. However, it is essential to have an extremely strong core regardless of what position you play. The explosion a player needs comes from the core of the their body, that is why power cleans are such a great workout. The University of Nebraska came up with a lot of the core building exercises decades ago and a lot of the old Big 8 and SWAC, now Big 12, teams stress this as do most football programs at any level. Crunches, leg lifts, pilates type workout, all of that will contribute to a stronger core and better player. The twitch muscles in the knees are important too for explosion and speed. Those can be built up by hardwork run, run, run, box drills!, jump rope, and running some more especially up inclined areas.

It depends on what your position is. but i think the most important muscle for all football players regardless of your position is your brain.

You must be young. There is no one muscle.
There are three big exercises you want to do. Squat, press, and deadlift if you are aged 14+.
If you are less than age 14, the most important organ is your brain. You are too young to lift.
