I have an old(er) computer, which has a 500 Mhz Pentium III processor. The connection for the processor is outdated, as I understand. (see link)

I was wondering if I could take a 1.6 Ghz Pentium 4 processor (different connection, see link)

and somehow buy an adapter to make it compatible with the older-style connection.

Any suggestions? Please proivide links, if possible. Thanks.

NO you'd need a new motherboard to use that new processor

There is MUCH more in the chip that the pic layout is different. Different voltages, clock speeds, bus widths etc etc etc

no there is no adapter, and even if there was your motherboard wouldn't support the voltages, the clock speed, the architecture technology or even recognize the chip. you need to buy a new mother board. they are cheap now a day. here is a very cheap one:

and the processor:

its time for some type of upgrade man.
