The fan is making lots of noises, and I plan on having someone else install a new fan since I cannot figure out how to get the thing out (I see no screws, latches, and pulling doesn't get it out either). I am not trying to be sold but I would like something of better quality than this. How much should I spend? Are there reliable brand names anyone knows of?

Thanks!

f you are not sure HOW to get the fan out simply take the PC to a shop (small PC shop is best) and ask them to do it.

It sounds like it's the CPU fan, therefore not QUITE so simple to change. Let the shop see it and advise accordingly.PC shop is best) and ask them to do it.

open up your computer and find the fan headers. usualy a 2 or 3 pin configuration. a 3 pin configuration monitors the rpm speed of the fan. a 2 pin configuration does not.
If you have a free header then buy a fan with the correct pin configuration for your PC.
If no header is available you can buy a fan with an adapter that hooks up to a power supply connector like the ones going to your cd-rom or hard drives.

depends is it the case fan or the cpu fan? small details help

as for case fans £3 or so.. i need to buy a slimline one so probably £6 i guess..

they are a standard size, 80x80mm or 120mm x 120mm

as for accessing it, its at the front of the case, u need to gently push the clips holding it in, and underneat u will see the screws holding it in normally.

it all depends on the pc in question, they vary case to case. (in both senses.lol)
