They keep fear baiting with the cost to round up and deport 12+ millions when the right incentives will have the majority leaving of their own free will.
Also, dry up the illegal alien job oportunities bu punishing employers.

Carpanone (below) Along with the carrot of citizenship, comes the stick of any illegal caught after a ceratin date will forever be denied citizenship and/or a work visa AND will go to atent-farm prison in AZ before being deported.

Working (below) Along with the incentives, include an end to these same entitlements after a certain date.
Give then enough time/forewarning to remain long enough to prepare for leaving. I'd say one year or more. The first ones out will be the first ones to be have their apps placed in line to be processed. It can be done.

Ford (below) Agreed. Now how about the solution. This one seems fair, humane, and cost effective.

Makes sense to me. Make them pay $$ out the wazoo for it too. Use their desire to be here to incentivize them.

What I'm still waiting to hear from Congress is how this new (un-enforceable) bill will be enforced. The laws on the books are not enforced now. What makes Congress think illegals are going to come forward, pay back taxes, a fine and return to country of origin to touch base and come back and wait to become a citizen. I didn't know they wanted to become citizens. Mexico allows dual citizenship. They get free medical, welfare and cash under the table and over the table jobs now. What is the incentive for them to turn themselves into Immigration. They don't even register their cars, why would they register themselves. It just another law that won't be enforced. Another pre-election Dog and Pony show from Congress.

Just go to any Emergency Room on a weekend night in the southwest and look around, listen, and you will see the majority of these people speak Spanish, and most do not speak English. when they show up, the ER has to care for them, free of charge, because they have no insurance or money.
The Taxpayers have to take up the slack as well as the people with insurance or money, pay much higher costs for going to the Hospital.
No such thing as self deport unless there is a major crack-down on employers who hire illegals along with rounding them up and deporting them.

Of course we could follow the path of offering the right incentives that they leave on their own and it would be a lesser expense than they are costing today. But citizenship wouldn't be a logical incentive for them to leave, but to stay.

they're already right here illegaly. Get a clue. till you enforce the regulation no longer something will replace. This new bill is a shaggy dog tale undeniable and easy. they are no longer likely to bypass away and are available lower back off a waiting checklist, they're already right here, why might they bypass away.

I totally agree with the concept, just not the incentive. put the employers who hire them in prison, that will take away the incentive all together and starvation will force them to self deport.

this problem was decades in the making. I doubt seriously many would exit in the first place. There will always be too much entitlements for them to cling to. neither the democrats or the republican really want to send all the illegals packing, to them it is not in their voter or big business needs.

I like how you think. Here are my thoughts:
1) Build a 12 foot fence with razor wire on top.
2) Post the National Guard on the U.S. side.
3) Arm the National Guard with "shoot to kill" if anyone gets over the fence.
4) Construct a crematorium on the U.S. side.
5) Throw any illegal alien dead bodies and cremate.
6) Start tossing any of the drug dealers, gang members and general criminals (even in the jails) back over the fence. Put them back in Mexico where they belong,
6) Stop all welfare, food stamps, subsidized or free housing and free medical. None. If they don't have legal status or insurance...no medical. Let them have their babies in an alley.
7) No anchor babies.
8) No illegal aliens in our nursing homes on Medicaid.
9) Offer a free trip back to Mexico for any that want to leave.
10) Then start picking them off one by one if they are illegal. Send them back to Mexico and all of their possessions will be auctioned by the government. The monies will be used to pay back the government for all the services they have been stealing.

i believe that big business and people wanting a large population of slave labor are responsible for the illegal situation...it's a union busting and society busting tactic that will have us all making a minimum wage...the companies that hire them are acting illegally...but our government won't fine them or put these company ceo's and managers in jail because of politics...the real problem is allowing companies to act illegally in hiring them in the first place
