Not really. Just because something isn't mainstream doesn't mean it lacks a strong support system. In fact, mainstream culture is truly weak. Take away the advertising, and all you have are a bunch of untalented idiots.

I dunno what a "folkie" is, but it is tough to be different in any way from people who expect everyone to be the same.
