I may be halucinating, but, my mother's Buick does not seem to be going the speed on the speedometer. Seems the car is going slower. I told her, it may use electronics and not the old cable as was common in days gone by. I been searching the Internet for pictures and parts. Will call Dealer Monday, they closed now. Thought someone on here may be familiar with this.

Great answsers. Man, you guys are so good I already fixed it. I went to look and find the Sending Unit when I turn on the car to start. There was the answer. She had it set to Metric so we were going about 30 mph as it was showing 50 kph. Dang, I kept telling her; "You going too slow" and she kept saying; "I driving 50"! LOL! Well, it fixed now, thanks for the help, it got me looking from the Driver's Seat.

If you have a friend who has a GPS unit ask him to take a ride with you. GPS will calculate your speed and is pretty accurate (to within a few MPH). That should let you know if the speedometer is off.

Good luck and hope this saves you a hassle.

Your mother car uses a speed sensor that is located on the transmssion. You may need to take it to a shop that does speed callibration. You may have another problem?

that one uses a speed sensor to help register the speed on it,they did do away with the cable type some years ago,but all the newer ones now use sensors instead of cables, good luck with it.
