If you can't find them during the day, it's because they're trying their best to dine on me.
Actually, if you are in a woods, or swampy area, they are there full time, and for a really eye awakening experience, go to Alaska where they are looking for food 24/7. by the zillions if not more, also most of northern Canada.
I've seen swarms in Alaska that look like dark clouds, and yes, during the daylight hours.

Where do you live? In Dallas, they are out all the time.
Maybe it is too hot or too dry where you live or it may be too breezy and you are moving too much for them to be attracted by your CO2 in the still evening air.
