Ha ha ha. How will the parolees wearing Halloween costumes in the black hole respond to this?

I could just hear Jon Facenda.. "On the frozen tundra of Shea Stadium, the Oakland Raiders refuse to take the field for the AFC Championship game against Joe Namath and the Jets until they are provided with their union mandated foot warmers."

You would think that a team that won 2 games last year would be willing to practice a little hard. Maybe that's why they won 2 games.

Come on RP. Give it a break. Believe me, I'm as big a Raider basher as anyone. So they cut the practice session short by union contract. So what? I'll tell you so what. That tells me this new coach is kicking some butt already. He's getting some undivided attention already from the players.
Considering what a miserable team they've been this is really a positive thing. Or we shall see.

STATEMENT FROM OAKLAND RAIDERS HEAD COACH LANE KIFFIN:

“I was notified that the Player’s Union believes our total commitment to improving our football team has resulted in some violations of rules regarding practice standards. The union has complained about the high level of intensity, player aggressiveness and fast pace of our practices and, as a result, has taken away the final week of our offseason program.”

Dude, you got your information wrong! The union and the league shut down the Raiders! They said that the practices were to vigorous during such high temps, and thus could cause fatal heat strokes. Corey Stringer anyone? Plus, check out the sites, especially yahoo sports, and espn.com. They'll show you that Raiders themselves were not the ones who wanted to stop practicing, But the union and the league decided this.

I would think that the union would realize that this team needs a little hard and physical practice. They need to have their butts kicked. Lets face it, their offense was terrible last season. They couldn't run, they couldn't block, they couldn't catch. All of this can be corrected through tough physical practice.

It's hard to practice when most of the team is suffering from rectal cranial inversion....including the front office and Al Davis.
