Not if the staples were an alloy designed to withstand special conditions. Plus, the trick is to have them not melt too soon. They don't have to last to landing. They just have to last long enough.
Something like a tungsten alloy could have an extremely high melting point and last long enough to get them through a critical period. They've landed plenty of shuttles that were missing a few tiles, etc.

That would have been factored. The staples will stay in place and keep the blanket in place just long enough. Let us hope for the best.

No, the heat in the staples will flow back into the blanket and radiate away also.
