The big question is whether owner Craig Leipold wants to flush any more cash down the toilet by bothering to sign free-agent contracts, especially when he's selling the club. The new owner will have quite a bit to say about this.

Why ice a great lineup if it's been in the red for a decade? Leipold has lost an average of $7 million a year since he's had the team, and even if everyone rallys around the Preds in Nashville this year, who is to say the economic woes won't return in a year or two?

Don't underestimate the effect a move to Hamilton will be for players. Hamilton is just 20 minutes away from Toronto, where a lot of them came from. The community worships hockey players like NFL, NBA and NASCAR stars COMBINED.

Some will and some won't. Aside from the turmoil caused by the potential sale (and move) of the team, Nashville is a very attractive place to play. The team has had only one coach so the system is stable. They have solid goaltending and defence. The management team is very good and they will have identified what players they want to keep and can afford, and which wants aren't as crucial.

I believe the teams signs Timmonen, Hartnell, and Kariya for sure
They definitely let Forsberg walk
Nichol and Vishnevski are question marks. Nichol has played well for the franchise, and Vishnevski is a very good defenceman, both will have interest on the open market
Smithson, Abid, Leahy, Zanon, and Goerhing are all spare parts that can be easily replaced for the cash

i do no longer think of he will play for any NHL team different than the crimson Wings. he's the 1st ecu defenseman to have over one thousand occupation factors, he's merely 13 factors remote from passing Denis Potvin and stepping into #6 on the best-ever factors record for defensemen, he probable won't bypass Larry Murphy. Has his call on the Stanley Cup 4 cases, replaced into the 1st ecu born Captain to hoist the Cup. What extra does he could do to instruct he's likely one in each and every of the final defensemen of all time?

Well, considering a lot of their players are canadian..they probably will stay. But, for those money hungry players, they will of course go where the money is. If they have wives liek Chris Prongers, they will leave quick. But, some might stay for the glory of the team and to start with a new fresh name/owner. That excites most players. But, we will have to wait and see until July 1st..

I hope not. The new guy has alot of $ and he could keep those people like Kariya (great goal scorer), Hartnell (got better 06-07 season), and Kimmo (he is the captain of the team) they can't let these people go.

its not that there going to jump ship, it's that the Preds have spend allot of money to build a contender this past year and with not acheving there goals they have lost lot's of money. so they just don't have the money to keep certain players for the next year. this is probably the best team the Preds have ever put on the ice since existence and it will be the last.

absolutely not with the exception of hartnell... edmonton is rumored to be courting him.. kariya will stay with even a moderate offer and timmonen has been here since day 1... even though all this could be wrong it is a bigger worry in nashville than the buy out for now...

Any player considering leaving Nashville is not likely to stick around for Hamilton.

Like most players, they'll go where the mighty dollar takes them. If Nashville antes up, then no.
