Male turtles store their penis inside their tail. The male turtle would mount the female from the rear and grip her shell with front claws (often elongated) and the penis comes out and it is inserted in the female's tail at the opening (cloaca). After a few months, the females would crawl out on land and find a suitable place to dig a nest and bury the eggs. The eggs will hatch in 60-12 days or more depending on the species and latitude. Turtles always mate in water unless they're tortoises or box turtles.

Pretty much the same most other animals.
I've seen it happen, too. An interesting experience.
One way to tell a male turtle from a female turtle its tail. A vent is located on every turtles tail which can help determine the animal's sex. If this vent sticks out, its a male. But if the vent is inside the shell (closer to the body) its a female.
The male turtle will mount the female and use this tail to have intercourse with his partner. Its the same way for humans, except that we don't have shells and don't really use our tails. o.o
For some species, a series of sounds is made (grunts, groans) during the mating process. In the turtles I saw, the male was VERY vocal.

Turtles reproduce sexually wich means the male sits behind the female and injects sperm into her. A female turtle can hold sperm up to 5 years!!!! The female then lays eggs wich hatch after 60-75 days. I guess it's all in the shell and then it comes out when they want to do it, but I've seen pictures of them mating and it's just like other animals. The male is almost straight up and down when they're doing it

To be graphic, the male has a very long penis which he extends and clamps onto the female. It looks a lot like a calla lily on a long stem.
The first time I saw one of my male California desert tortoises (I had a state permit to keep them -- never pick up one from the wild) in the mood for love, I thought he was an egg-bound female trying to lay her eggs. It's a remarkable sight, I can tell you.
