It all depends on what you prefer:
- investing in your own economy for the future of the children
or
- destroying capital on a country where the return on investement is what it is...

This makes no sense. You said, "Everyone would be paying a lot less money even if taxes went up.." And, following your example, if we stop spending "trillions" (not accurate) on the war, why would taxes have to go up? We'd have extra "trillions" of dollars we wouldn't be spending on the war. If anything, according to your "trillions", taxes should then go down.
If taxes go up, people pay more in taxes. Which means they use less money to buy products, start companies, and employ people.
Whatever you think about the war, higher taxes are NEVER the answer to anything. Higher taxes ALWAYS hurt this country. Even John F. Kennedy knew that. He's a Democratic hero, and even he lowered taxes.
War bad. Taxes bad. No new taxes. Never works. The government is raking in the money now. 40 of the 50 states have so much tax money now that they are lowering state taxes. Come on, people, higher taxes isn't the solution. Follow the other side. It's not how much money comes in, it's how badly your government is spending it. Make your government stop wasting so much money.

First of all the tally thus far is in the HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of dollars. Which Is still ridiculous. And if you think that the democrats are just going to imply the "cut and run" mentality , think again. First of all we should have never gone in there to begin with. Watch the episode of "Meet the Press" with Ge. Colin Powell. He admitted lots of errors occurred based on the "Intel" he was given. That Iraq would not have been "invaded" and liberated if We had known that there were no WMD's.
That said. We can not just pack up and leave, sadly. It would affect the morale of our military personnel. (the enlisted ) And it would also leave Iraq without some sort of supervision because of the civil war that is going on there. The civil war that the US govt. does not want to acknowledge.Unfortunately no matter what either party says. (Dems' or GOP) We will not fully withdraw from Iraq for a very long time.
Furthermore the enlisted KNEW what they were getting into when they enlisted. Going into the Armed Forces is not a free lunch , it isn't a ticket to a cushy 20 years of service and a sweet retirement package afterwards.Geesh....

If liberals had their way, we would surrender in Iraq, and then they would tax us like crazy to pay for their socialized medicine plan (amother other hand-out) programs. Then when we get hit by another terrorist attack because we let the war on terror come home, they will have to raise taxes to rebuild the destruction (which could be 100 times worse than 9/11), and even more taxes to draft a surrender offer to the terrorists.

Staying in Iraq would be worse, because doing so will result in more American deaths.
We were taken to war on a pack of lies. Our brave soldiers, our warrior class, the ones that we should admire and exalt the most in our society, have been put in harms way for Political and Corporate gains. Bring them home now. Let Iraq die for Iraq. And not to worry, they won't "follow us home", they got that line from a B-rate horror film.
As far as our government levying taxes on it's citizens, that's a great topic to discuss because it speaks to the government's power over our lives. And right now they have way too much! We have a responsibility to leave something better to the next generation.
Please take the time to watch the movie link below, it'll open your eyes, if your ready for it.

If we stay in Iraq, taxes will go up to pay for the 'war'.
If we end the 'war', taxes will go up pay for the debt we're already in because of the 'war'.
I believe it's reasonable to expect the next generations of taxpayers to be in an average 84% tax bracket (which means they'll have to earn $100,000 and learn to live on $16,000). As of last AUGUST, "American Prospect" magazine reported that the 'war' had already cost taxpayers $1.27 TRILLION (that's ONE MILLION DOLLARS A DAY for 3,487 years!!). Who do you think is going to pay down that debt? The government? Where does the government get its money? From taxpayers - those who supported the 'war' and those who opposed the 'war'. -RKO- 06/16/07

Well the Democrats would still tax us plenty, but they would reallocate that war money into a national health care plan that may or may not succeed.
And actually, it is China and Japan that are indirectly funding our war. They buy billions of dollars' worth of US bonds.

Yes, and if we end the war, we pay with our lives. Terrorists want to kill us and we need to prevent them from doing so. Get over it.

so easy for you to type out "end the war", isn't it? Let's try winning this war and go on to the higher taxes the Libs will shove down our throats anyway? Yes, this is my answer.

Keep the government out of my pockets and out of my home!

True, but I'm simply disappointed at what our troops have to endure. Their over there giving their lives and then they come to find out their fighting a war based on falsified evidence and all this other stuff, I'm glad to see people supporting the troops however and lashing out at the government, respectively. I wouldn't want to see another Vietnam.
