Open a text document with Wordpad or Notepad.
Press Alt then 1 on the numeric keypad on the right hand side of your keyboard (works only with PCs with proper keyboards not laptops). Release Alt. See if the character that appears is the smiley face you want.
If not, press Alt again and hit 2. Release Alt and check again.
Keep doing this, incrementing the number you hit while pressing Alt until you find the smiley face you want.
It's there, I just don't want to spend all night looking for it.
