I'm choosing between Asus, Acer, HP, Dell, Toshiba, fujitsu and Sony, here are the specs I will prefer.

Intel C2D T5600
1GB Ram,
XP Home
100Gb HDD
Wifi
DVD optical drive
and less than 2Kg.

I plan to buy a laptop for my university engineering course.

However, overheating has become an issue so I seriuosly need some advice to to buy one. I'm kinda worried for the overheating and hardware failure (which my friend has experienced it with Dell).

What do you think about dell?

Which brand is good for this purpose and which is not?

It's not really the manufacturers fault. The overheating is mainly cause by the processors. It is known that AMD procs heat up faster that Inel ones, so buying a laptop with intel processor is a start point. You should also check the coolers power. If the laptop is compact it'll also build heat faster. Consider this when buying it.

Fujitsu has been known to have overheating problems .
I've had friends who use Fujitsu who bought laptop fans to cool down the temperature .

My suggestion is for you to buy Sony laptops . This brand is very reliable & the after sales service is very good .

Dell ? Hm not too sure bout it though . Sorry .

Good Luck finding the perfect PC !
