Yes. The summer when I was 13, I was raped by a gang of five guys. When I got back to school in the fall, I found to my horror that the rumor was circulating that I had volunteered for the gang bang. I lost a lot of friends that year, namely all the ones who believed it plus all the ones who passed it on whether or not they believed it. In fact, now that I remember, I can't think of any friends who remained my friends, except the next-door neighbors.

Yes but the grain of truth got blown way out of proportion and ended up being a lie. That was not a fun experience.

Yes, many throughtout my life. Some had a grain of trurth, but you know rumors , they take one grain and turn it into a silo full.
My grandfather told me long ago, "son, the cream always rises, so get on with it, we have good things to do".

Not one grain of truth; Insane sister in law accused me of taking a coffee mug. Yeah, I was drinking my coffee from an old shoe until I got that mug. Score!

yes indeed and i know there was a tiny sliver of truth, the rest was maliciously fabricated and designed to hurt my feelings,i think all rumours start that way i did nothing about it simply because its easier for people who listen to and start rumours to believe the worst in others weather to alleviate feelings of inadequacy or just because they have a mean streak, since i have no control over anybodies opinions and thoughts i just try to ignore it,the only thing that any of us can really do is to not spread the rumours, when i hear one it stops at me i let it die in the hopes it doesn't gain more momentum

Yes, back in high school. They took a story which was true and added their own highlights to it to make me look horrible. I believe that they were jealous of me and this was their way of getting me. I was a privileged child and was popular with most of the cliques. I don't say this to sound conceited, it's just the way it was. Kids in high school can be very mean. You couldn't pay me enough $ to go through that again. =)

No truth, and when I got with the other person it was about and told him to act like it was true to give the people something to talk about, then no one believed it. They knew it was a put on.

Sure, but I have never paid attention to anything someone wants to say.
No truth to none of it.
That was back in my younger days.
