Although we are all different, it's interesting to know that when the tunnel from England to France was built (The Chunnel), the English who still used INCHES were issued plans using INCHES while the engineers in France were given plans in MILLIMETERS. When they came together somewhere under the English Channel, they were within 2 inches of aligning perfectly. In the 1970’s, the U.S. tried to switch over to the metric system but it was opposed by all because of the huge cost of converting that was involved and generations of using the American Standard. We decided that we would use the metric system whenever it was necessary to interface with other countries that used the metric system but to KEEP the American Standard for all internal uses.

Unless they are perfectly clean they come under the heading of Special Waste. You need to contact a waste disposal company.
You can be prosecuted if you dispose of them incorrectly.

Contact your local council. They'll probably say take them to your recycling centre. You can't chuck 'em in the general rubbish.

Put a "FREE" sign on them in front of your house.
Problem solved.
I'd come get them if you lived close to me, or if I saw a "free" sign on them.
