I have a male friend who has a real issue with that word used to describe him. Is it offensive to men?

It means quite what your avatar represents: attractive in a little-kid sort of way. A girl may be cute, but a woman is beautiful. And little boys may be cute, too, but using cute to describe a man is condescending. Only his very dearest love could get away with it, in private, for some special reason.

Yeah...I think of it being charming in a childish sorta way. A man would rather be described as handsome, hot or ripped.

My wife calls me "cute". She settled for me only because Hot Harry Mahony picked one of the cheerleaders in school to make babies with. To me, "cute" means runner up.

Yeah, as a rule men are handsome or attractive. Babies are cute. And whatever you do, don't refer to them as someone's baby Brother, that'll piss 'em off, too.

To me its a juvenile way of saying handsome,or beautiful if pertaining to a woman,..maybe he just feels it belittles his masculinity,or its immature sounding to him...Just my thoughts on it though..=)
