The reasons why the real scene doesn't like them is simple:

1. They rip-off ideas from other bands/albums. I have heard nothing original about these two bands, just the same old, tired, MTV routine. You can't be what these 'bands' supposedly stand for and be on MTV. The Dead Kennedys said it best with thier "MTV Get Off The Air" song. MTV is a cancer.

2. Pin-up boys. Media whores. That lead singer from Fall Out Boy has his own clothing line, fercryinoutloud. Punk rockers or followers of punk don't do this. It's called selling-out.

3. Marketing. The sad thing is, you people don't even know you are being targeted. Some bigwig label azzwipe is making a mint off you people, and you're playing his sucker. Corporate music sucks. It's meant to be shoved down your throat after a little bit of demographics, focus groups, product placement, and unit-shifting economics. It all might seem a tad bit cynical to you guys, but that's exactly what happens behind those music presidents doors. I have way more respect for a band like Fugazi who do all thier own producing, recording, distribution, booking, media, and merchandsing. And to top it off, they only charged $5 a person for shows, and was able to stay profitable.

And that's just for starters.....

I don't hate them, they rock.
Well, I don't like Fall Out Boy that much anymore, because on their new album the songs are written poorly, and the writers(pete wentz, or all of fob) have no connection, they just wrote about things that they didn't know one ting about, the album "From Under The Cork Tree" was much more realistic and properly written.
My Chemical Romance is an allright band, though they still steal subjects from other bands maybe such as Metallica, or Marylin Mansen, because the term "emo" or the music style, is very unoriginal, you cannot create a new form of bullying that has not been used before, so bands who take a claim to the "emo" music, are indeed sell-outs, unless they are the first of their kind, which it is already to late to be.
But also, MTV sucks, I just wanted to throw that in.

I mean this as no offense to you or anyone else who is a fan but it really is the fans. Many of them have no idea the slightest idea of any of the actual musical talent of the bands and just care about the look that the band portrays. If they do not like the look, they at least like the look of the lead singer. I have seen both bands live, their fans were very impolite and seemed to have no idea of many of the general "rules" of being a member of the crowd. Being in the front, I was kicked multiple times by crowd surfers that had on FOB or MCR t-shirts so I knew that they were fans. Yes, everyone gets kicked by crowd surfers, but people like to mess with me because I have long curly hair. A particular kid was laughing after he threw gum in my hair. I have heard their recent music and do not find it nearly as high quality as their older work. Not to mention live, in my experiences Gerard Way could not hit ANY of the notes he could on the CD. Also, for that matter, nor could Patrick. Now, don't get me wrong I understand being on tour, but they didn't even drop it into the correct key. Such bands such as AFI or Coheed and Cambria rather draw my interest. Both of these bands are able to hit their notes live, or at least drop them into a correct key. In addition to this, I feel that they have more complicated music which knowing a lot about music myself is more pleasing. Well, that was a long winded rant, but that does indeed encompass why I do not like MCR or FOB.

My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy are both terrible, they sound exactly like every other piece of crap that has been featured on MTV the past decade, I don't see how people can listen to them it's like torture, but the question itself isn't very realistic, there is no one who could answer why people dislike a certain type of music

I luv um both. If i didn't here would be the reason: for MCR i would either think they were sellouts [ hear a lot of ppl say that >_< ] or i just don't like there music and for fall out boy bc ppl either think Pete Wentz is such a Diva or they just don't like there music. But usually it is something dumb saying u don't like them bc there so called emo. It's like saying you don't like someone bc there wearing an orange belt it's just sort of dumb. well that's all again i love both bands.

I don't care what i say in between songs but what i say in them is what counts most - Gerard Way [ MCR lead singer ]

They are generic MTV rock. They are no different than any of the other bands out today. They bring with them the idea that image is more important than the music, and music is a product, not an art form. They are just watered down punk music. I don't think the Sex Pistols ever sang about dancing or having a parade. They also can't play or sing very well.

Well i like MCR and i don't get how people don't like them, but that's just my opinion. Anyways. MCR have songs with meaning! And i don't get how they are sellouts as everyone says. Because there new album is all about death basically, they may not be as violent as before but, they still are violent. And The Hidden track 'Blood" is meant to be like a little joke between MCR and their fans telling them they are still the violent MCR that you loved. And they aren't trying to be punk. They stated themselves that they were violent pop rock or something like that. And many people hate them because they don't get the hidden meanings. Also because now that they are famous, there are those irritating little Teenyboppers stating 'MCR is Lyk totally Punk rawk 4 lyff... Rawk on!" which gets on most people's nerves and those stupid little people only know The Black Parade album and when i'm like dont you LOVE Vampires Will Never Hurt You. they are like.. WHAT? lol

Okay on to FOB

I HATE FOB because the songs they sing are so pointless. And when I first heard them i just thought FOB was just one guy singing. And I really Don't like their instrument sounds. Also i find Pete's voice very irritating. But thats just my opinion. Yeah No offense to the FOB fans!

I absolutely ADORE My Chemical Romance. I've adored them since they came out with their first CD, and I'll adore them to the day I die. I'm not crazy about The Black Parade, but ******* god, listen to the guitars and tell me that Toro DOESN'T have skill!
Seriously, the reason most people don't like MCR is because they don't like the way Gerard dresses or something. It's absolutely stupid. You say 'Gerard' and people know exactly who you're talking about, but if you say 'Mikey' who is his brother, and the bassist, people are like, "Who?" Don't get me wrong, I love Gerard like a fat kid loves Chocolate but I have people judging My Chem based ONLY on him.

I DO not like Fall Out Boy, becuase with them, they brought the shittiest rein of music I have had the displeasure of living through. I mean, it's catchy and all, but it's all the same, all boring, all pretty much a Corporate Act.

This question is pretty useless because if the people who don't like it say why, they are just going to get a thumbs down from all you lovers. The whole world doesn't have to like those two bands. The haters don't need a reason. They can hate them if they want.
