Well, you are correct in assuming that most religious fundamentalists and the three sigma fringe protagonists cannot comprehend that both a belief in the theory of evolution and a faith in a higher power can be embraced.

However, most moderate religious leaders and followers accept that evolution is a viable scientific theory. And, they realize that most of the great and grand stories in their religious texts are metaphorical in nature and are meant to present religious truths and morals in a manner that ordinary people can understand and relate to.

Most people of faith don't decry science. They do question some of the theories and try to understand the interaction between rationality and belief.

The two can co-exist. Only the fringe shudder at the advance of scientific thought.

I did know know evolution was a religion.
There are a lot of people who likes art and crafts and one of their favorite artistic subjects is straw dogs. Maybe they like pinatas, I don't know, or fire and burning effigies.
In any case, correlations only suggest that an association exists, not a causality (cause and effect), no matter how direct it is. It does not even tell you any direction the association may be going in, only that values on one variable tend to vary in the same way values on another variable vary. Maybe there is a correlation between people who like peanut butter and belief in evolution, or people who drink wine and people who believe in God.

Since when has evolution been about belief? Evolution is about science and fact, and it has already been proven many times both in and outside of a labratory.

To be honest -me. And mainly because of lack of true evidence . Especially for lack of any true "between" forms of "evolving man" . That is between the "crawling fish" and neanderthal ..
