You most likely have a very slow internet connection--that's what determines how long it takes to download/upload things on the Internet.

If that's not it, try again later because the YouTube server may be busy or something. It could be a possibility that your video file is corrupt, too. *shrug*

your question is a little confusing because you say ON YouTube and ON a Mac…
… to 'upload' means you are sending the file FROM your computer TO the web; is that what you are trying to do?
… or are you 'downloading' a video FROM YouTube TO your Mac?

Typically, upload/download times are determined by the file size and internet connection speed, and can also be effected by the activity on the website's server, as well as on your internet connection (if you have multiple devices sharing bandwidth).

Have you made sure that the file is in the appropriate video format required by YouTube?

I suggest canceling the operation, ensuring that there are no other devices using bandwidth on your internet connection, double-checking your file format and starting over from scratch.

It would be no different on a Mac than on a PC. It all depends on the speed of your internet. If your internet is fairly fast though, I'd guess the browser window froze. If it's not done soon, you may want to retry to upload it.

Its probably is your internet connection rather than the Mac. Have you got the correct format to upload? Lots of reasons to investigate..... a bad workman/woman always blames their tools.
