kinda, and ill tell you why

years and years ago there was this thing called music and when hair metal went away so did the music. see the record companies/public won't call that kind of music rock anymore, but rather they call it hard country, now if you listen to it (hillbilly delux and such) you can hear the faint classic rock sounds.

see if we had not had Black Sabbath (the real revolutionary band) we wouldn't have any of the modern rock/metal sounds of today. Black sabbath (paranoid, Iron Man, master of reality) was the first band to down tune their guitars. creating a sound of drudginess/heaviness.

The reason they down tuned their guitars was because Toni Iommi Had the tips of his fingers spliced off in an industrial accident. so when he went back to playing his guitar he found that the only way to alleviate his pain was to tune his guitar from E-C#.

and since then Rock had progressed in a seperated way than ever before it got distortion oriented, lower riffs, and became very repetitive and heavy. they were the first metal band and they were actually Doom Metal. so when country progressed itself it used the same instrumentals as before (Dobro, the occasional Banjo) but used them in once again heavier fashions and that is what gives you bands like Big and Rich and other "hard Country" bands

I wrote a report on black sabbath my freshman year so I now it well
