Other than a few polititians, they walk a pretty strict party line, so that limits a voters choice.
And I have to be honest, I will not vote for someone who has NO chance (Ron Paul) and throw away my vote. If you find the Perfect Candidate who agrees with ALL your ideas, God Bless you, In my 29 years of voting I have never found one I agree with 100%. So, I DO vote issues, it sounds like either you don't or haven't been.....

You know, I always look at the issues and end up voting a party line--I've never seen a Democrat yet that I would rather have than the Republican that was running against him--but I'm still looking.

Can't vote a straight party line--there are always some losers in my chosen party that I couldn't throw away my vote on. I'd rather have a competent, moderate dem running things--someone who listens to his constituents (like one of my dem state senators, Roger Breske--he has some 'issues', but he does show a compassion for helping his constituents--and always has) than some pompus idiot who is in politics for the power--ie my US Senators--both of them!

Hell no! Let's say, for example, you're a loyal Democrap, and you generally like the candidates, except for the one who wants to increase the number of troops in Iraq. Or you're a loyal Repooplican, and you generally like the candidates, except for the one who wants to give amnesty to illegal immigrants. You have to vote for the individual candidate. This is not a Parliamentary system.

Unfortunately, if you want your vote to count, you have to vote for one of the two major parties. Any other candidate does not stand a chance. Hopefully, one day this will change.

I have never voted straight party line.
I haven't made up my mind who to vote for, it's way too early. But we really need a mental genius to get us out of this mess. I don't care which party they belong to.

Right now, yes. Democrats are so far left that I have to accept the lesser of the two evils.

I honestly think a real conservative will emerge in 08. My guess is it will be Fred Thompson and Romney. Romney is filled with ideas and solutions

If it looks like Socialism, smells like Socialism, comes across like Socialism, I'll vote against it. :)
