It was kind of scary, but also funny at the same time.

It was a Sunday night, and my husband had taken our youngest son and a friend of his to catch a Greyhound.

Now, the house we lived in at the time had a problem with the front door--it couldn't be locked, and often wouldn't even latch.

Our bedroom was at one end of the house; I was in there, reading, and I thought I heard someone moving around at the other end. I quietly opened the bedroom door, and saw that the front door was standing wide open.

At the time, our middle son was stationed in Alabama, going through his Advanced Individual Training prior to attending another school and then finally being assigned to his permanent unit. He enjoyed hunting, and had left his shotgun at home, and it was in the closet in my husband's and my room. I locked the bedroom door and got the shotgun.

Well, the problem is, I'd never fired a shotgun before, so I positioned the barrel away from my face and was trying to determine if the safety was on. It wasn't.

I heard the gun go off and take out one of our bedroom windows.

I sat there, thinking how mad my husband was going to be, and my second thought was, "Well, if anyone was in here, I'm sure they've gone now!"

I was always scared of the downstairs family room and basement in the house I grew up in. One evening when I was there alone (my parents and brother had gone to a Bible study) I heard something downstairs. As creeped out as I was, I went down to see if I could figure out what it was. I took my dog with me, but as soon as we got to the top of the second flight down, she looked between the bars of the bannister, started whining, and ran back up the steps. I couldn't convince her to come back down, so believe me, I didn't go back down either.
Strange thing is that I had 2 different dogs in the time I lived there, and neither would go into that downstairs area with me. It was a brand new house, so I don't know what it could have been.

I was home alone one night. I was downstairs getting ready to go out. I thought I heard someone walking around upstairs. So I turned the music off and kept listening and sure enough I heard someone walking around. But everyone was out of town for the weekend. So when I went upstairs no one was there. So naturally I turned on a few lights and went back downstairs. I heard it again. So I went back upstairs. When I got there all the lights were off. I turned them back on. Before I reached the top of the stairs to go back down, the lights started turning off on at a time like someone was walking through the house turning off the lights. I got really cold and felt like someone was staring at me like "you're still here?" So I said "just leave the lights on til I leave", and turned the lights back on. I went back downstairs and finished getting ready. When I came back up the lights were still on, until I started heading for the door. Then they started turning off again. So I just left.

Yes, I was home alone and it was storming out, and it was all quiet when all of the sudden, my brothers rang the doorbell and hid. When I answered again, they popped out at me. I was only 8.
