because they have no true talent
they write songs about things that do not concern them
and that they haven't experienced, and their songs are just a bunch of words that they heard, or quotes, or just things that sounded cool, and they just went oh cool, if we put that in a song the world will love us, they are sellouts!
Oh and to the person somewhere above me, you don't make money because of lyrics, first you are ADVERTISED, and that is why people buy the CDs and find out the lyrics, and there's this thing called fitting in, if your friends like Fall Out Boy, chances are you will too. Which is the same reason people like rap.

A. they're not retarded.
B. they do it because there are so many songs that could easily have the same name, like "me and you" or something simple like that, so they make the titles longer so no one else will have the same song title as them.
C. FOB is not just in on it for the money, if they were they would've given up after their first two albums did nothing for them at all, except build a tiny loyal fan base. But instead of giving up because they still had no money, they continued because they like what they do. They like making music. To them their fans actually mean something. Something more than dollar signs.

Like everybody else said: they are mainstream. They are a disgrace to real music. They saw that they could make a gay band and basically sell it to the idiotic people in the music industry and in society. Real musicians puke when they hear Fall Out Boy because they realize that the "music" consists of no talent or musical value. The "band' might have spent 2 minutes writing their material.
