I hope you can accommodate two books. The Stand by Stephen King because of the intricacy of the story. And The Bad Place by Dean R. Koontz because of the total fantastical nature of the story.

Any of the "in death" ie :Naked in Death" by J.B. ROBB or Nora Roberts alias! They are so good I have read them over and over! They are set in the future (2059). The heroine is a murder cop named Lt. Eve Dallas! These are excellent fictional books w/adult context! Explicit sexual material in some parts, between Eve and her husband! They are great stories!
