I admire your interest in wildlife but your CATS will be the problem. If it were myself..I would soon have a caged enclosure for the cats and then you can enjoy the wildlife.

As well as the other suggestions - buy a bird bath (you can get a tall green plastic one for under £10) - the birds will come to drink and splash around in it.
Also, at ground level - a wildlife pond; make sure it has some sloping edges so that any hedgehog which falls in can get out, frogs and toads will move in and eat the slugs for you.
Put any left over cat food out for hedgehogs.
Put up nesting boxes.

It really depends on what kind of wildlife you want to attract. If you want coyotes to come visit you, just leave things as they are. Coyotes LOVE cats!

Some of your other posters offered some good ideas. Try them. If you are trying to attract larger animals, such as deer, the cats are not a problem. If you are interested in birds, you need to take precautions with the cats.

All kidding aside, there are some animals, and coyotes are definitely one, that may be a threat to your cats. So be careful.

I have cats outside, and still get wildlife all around. The only problem I have had is with birds. I also have pecans everywhere! I throw out sweet feed and corn and bread, along with bruised fruits...this has attracted my wildlife despite the 2 cats, dog, and 2 mules.

Not much you can really do with cats, a bit cruel on the wildlife, but you hang nuts in trees for the birds or buy some bumble bee boxes. Birds also love the seeds from pampas grass so maybe you could plant one, cats wont get them on there.

You can get cat pens that attach to the house. That way the cats can go outside but not get at the wildlife.

Be careful as you might attract wildlife you don't want. My sister puts seed out for the birds and balls of fat with seed through it. A few weeks ago she happened to look out her kitchen window and saw two young rats clinging onto the fat balls enjoying a feed.
