I've never heard of a minority scholarship. I guess that if such a scholarship exists, it would have to be offered to any and all in a minority status... which could be any number of students from different continents as well as any male or female... if one or the other gender is a minority @ that particular institution. If married students are a minority, they should be eligible too. So sure, in this instance a white students as well as a mixed race students should be included.

Caucasians generally have a better chance of recieving a regular scholarship. Wheras many African-Americans may not have as good a chance of getting an academic scholorship. Though it is a "minority" college, many of the scholarships are not issued from the college or university itself, rather a sponsor, group, organization or individual. Diversity is not as diverse as it seems. A caucasian has a greater chance of not recieving a minority scholorship for the simple fact that a minority scholarship is an opportunity for minorities to achieve without having to go through a board of caucasians who are 80% likely to chose a caucasian over a minority, so why should a caucasian come in and sweep up something where minorities actually have a chance of recieving without hassles. It would not be morally right for a caucasian to recieve a minority scholarship, when a minority have to nearly break his or her back to get any scholarship and attend a great college or university.

Its possible, but I doubt it. When scholarship organizations offer "minority" awards, they are usually intending that it goes to minority ethnic groups. In some cases there may be exceptions, for instance, if you are a male studying to go into a profession that is traditionally dominated by females (i.e. nursing), or if you have some type of disability. It also depends on what you mean by 'white'. If, for instance, you have one parent who is from an ethnic minority group then you would be considered to be of mixed heritage and you could still qualify---even if you look 'white'.
In any case, it won't hurt to apply. All they can do is say no, and if you can write a really good essay stating why you feel you deserve to get the scholarship they just might say yes.

Although you may be a minority amongst the general population of the school, you will not be considered a "minority" for scholorships, loans or admission. In these cases the term "minority" refers to a member of a distinct group or class of people who are considered not part of the ruling class who comprise the population of the country hosting the school. If you are white, you are not a minority, even if whites become the smallest "group" in the country "if" the country is still predominantly ruled by those of the "group" known as "white". Is it fair? maybe not, but it "is" the way it is.

Well, it might be possible to receive a "minority" scholarship at a HBC. However, the term "minority" is used to refer to historically underrepresented groups in higher education rather than the numbers at a particular college. If you received a "minority" scholarship at a HBC it would probably be from a local scholarship fund from that particular campus rather than a national fund that is targeted to "minority" groups so the funding will be somewhat limited. Believe me there will be more African-American students receiving "minority" scholarships at HBC's than there will be Caucasians receiving them on those campuses.
